Frequently asked questions

Your freshers’ fortnight runs from Monday 25th September until Friday 6 October. We’ll be hosting a variety of daytime events and evening events every weekday.

All new and continuing undergraduate and postgraduate students at Central are welcome at freshers. Some events will have limited tickets available on the door for guests accompanied by a Central student.

Yes, many evening events will require proof of age either at the door or when buying drinks. You’ll also need your Central campus card for some events. If you have questions about what ID’s are accepted, let us know so we can find out for you. Each club can have different rules.

Am I guaranteed entry?

If an event reaches the capacity set to keep people safe, wristband holders will take priority. We’ll do our best to make sure you can get in to any event you’d like to, but can’t promise entry, so get there early. Some events will be for wristband holders only.

Absolutely not. Freshers isn’t just about drinking alcohol. Some people find it easier to talk to new people when they’ve had a drink, but many people at Central don’t drink at all. Everyone is welcome at our events.

We recommend downloading the free Citymapper app to help you plan your way around London. Last trains are usually just after midnight, but many bus services run 24 hours a day. Try not to travel alone late at night and speak to us if you need help or find yourself on your own.

UberBolt and Free Now are examples of minicab booking apps. They are often much cheaper than black cabs, especially with friends.

Never use an unbooked minicab – they are dangerous and illegal.

Our team of officers will be available at every event, wearing a uniform to be visible. They’re happy to help if anything goes wrong. In an emergency, dial 999.

We hope it never comes to it, but will let you know as soon as possible if we need to cancel an event. We’ll then do everything we can to recover our costs and pass these savings back on to you if an event is cancelled by a venue or partner.

Yes, this year we’re being sponsored by Domino’s Pizza UK and Ireland Ltd. We like them because they give us free pizza. 🍕

Freshers is 2 weeks of events and activities that the Students’ union puts on for new students. It is a chance for students to meet each other, meet the SU and staff and get to know the school before classes start. You can make freshers what you want it to be.

We know moving to university can be expensive, so we’ll be running as many free events as possible. Events hosted in clubs and bars will have door charges, but you can get entry to all events by buying a freshers wristband. A wristband will save you money compared to the door charges. Some events require a wristband, as we can’t offer tickets on the door.

Nice choice. You can order your freshers wristband via this website. Visit the Wristbands page and complete payment via PayPal. You don’t need an account, as debit and credit cards are also accepted.

We have a limited number of early bird wristbands on offer for those that are quick enough. If you miss out, don’t worry, general wristbands will be on sale soon after.

If tickets are available on the door, we can take cash, contactless, mobile device payments and most credit and debit cards issued by Visa, Mastercard, American Express, JCB, UnionPay, Diners Club, Discover, Maestro, Visa Electron and V pay.

Once you have placed your order successfully we will take you to a page confirming that we’ve got your order and you’re on the list. PayPal will also send you a confirmation email with your unique transaction ID.

If you don’t see this page or receive an email, contact us.

You’ll be able to collect your wristband from our swag sales. If that doesn’t work for you, they’ll also also be available from the first few events. Make sure you bring your Central campus card so we know it’s you.

It’s not usually possible to offer a refund except in extreme circumstances. If you think you could qualify, contact us.
