Meet our 2026/2027 students’ union team.
Officers are elected representatives of students who carry out specific duties, determined by the role they are elected to.
Rupert Shirley
SU President
The President is the only sabbatical role, and involves leading the officer team and representing students at many committee’s and events. The president also sits on Centrals Governing Board.
‘As President, I want to continue, sustain and strengthen the important practices employed by the Students’ Union, I aim to boost its visibility so students can clearly see the support we offer. I also want to holistically improve a student sense of belonging, I am committed to achieving this through building upon societies and events, improving social spaces and developing cross-course collaboration.’

Postgraduate Officer
The Postgraduate Officer works closely with the President to advocate for Postgraduate students in their academic experience at Central.
‘As Postgraduate Officer, I am committed to bringing together all postgraduate courses, advocating for international students, and finding new avenues of student feedback. I hope to make the postgraduate experience one where students feel seen, respected, and heard– as a student, an artist, and a person’

Undergraduate Officer
The Undergraduate Officer works closely with the President to advocate for Undergraduate students in their academic experience at Central.

Eleanor Weldon
Events Officer
The events officer is in charge of all things events, activities and societies, taking place in the Backstage Bar or somewhere else on campus.
‘Hi my name is Eleanor, I am a third year experimental arts and performance student and super excited to be your events officer for the academic year of 2026/27. Get ready to expect a year of events that aim to land with everyone – whether you’re a chill morning person or party night owl – I hope to bring a series of socials and events for everyone at central. My core beliefs are kindness, care, inclusion and absolute vibes and am always here for a chat, I want to hear what the students want. Let’s have the best year, Eleanor! ‘
Rebecca Valls-Russell
Campaigns Officer
The campaigns co-ordination officer leads on coordinating campaigns done by the SU, making sure they have ‘making life better for students’ at the heart.
‘Through the SU’s campaigns I want to build a culture of collaboration where every student feels cared for, heard, and celebrated.’
Rowe Payne
Inclusion Officer
The inclusion officer is dedicated to improving the experience of students from marginalised communities. They lead the inclusion reps, communicating with them to make sure everyone’s voice is heard.
‘My aims for the this year are to bring some long needed changes and to continue on the legacy started by my predecessors. I want to implement more practical measurements to make attending Central easier such as new maps, easier ways to voice concerns and making sure everyone feels represented and heard here. I hope to be someone you feel you can talk to and bring things to if you need support.’
