Have a question? See if we answer it here. If not, contact us.
The event
When do I need to arrive?
You can arrive from 7:30pm. We’ll be setting sail just before 8pm and anyone not on board will be left behind. We’ll get back to the pier around midnight.
What is the dress code?
The dress code is ‘formal dress’. We would love to see suits and dresses, and would prefer if you stirred away from ripped jeans. Although more importantly, we want everyone to feel comfortable. So wear what makes you feel good!
Who can come?
The ball is open to all current Central students – undergraduate and postgraduate- so continuing and graduating students are welcome to attend. Guests are also welcome, as long as they are accompanied by a Central student, and have their own ticket.
Will I need to bring ID?
Yes, you’ll need proof of age such as a driving license or passport at the door. We can’t help you if you don’t have your ID on the night.
How do I find the boat?
We’ll be setting sail from Festival Pier. The address is:
Festival Pier
Riverside Walk
London
SE1 8XZ
How do I get home afterwards?
Last trains are usually just after midnight, but many bus services run 24 hours a day. Festival Pier is near Waterloo Station, where you can get the Jubilee line.
Try not to travel alone late at night and speak to an officer if you need help or find yourself on your own.
Uber and bolt are examples of minicab booking apps. They are often much cheaper than black cabs, especially if you split the fare with friends.
Never use an unbooked minicab – they are dangerous and illegal.
What if I need help?
We’ll have officers and SU Staff available all night. They’re happy to help if anything goes wrong. The bar staff and trained security are all there to make sure you have a good night. In an emergency, dial 999.
Tickets
Do I need a ticket?
Yes, tickets are essential. The boat has a strict capacity for the number of people it can host safely and we can’t break this limit.
Can I get a ticket for my friend?
You can bring guests along, just select the ‘guest’ option when buying them a ticket. All guests must be accompanied by a Central student.
Are there tickets on the door?
In order for us to make an accurate guest list, tickets need to be bought in advance, and won’t be available on the door.
Can I give my ticket to someone else?
No, you can’t transfer your ticket to someone else. If you don’t want it, you’ll need to contact us at [email protected]
Do you offer refunds?
It’s not usually possible to offer a refund except in extreme circumstances. If you think you could qualify, contact us at [email protected]
