The event
Why are we doing a Graduate Ball?
Previously we have done ‘Ball on a Boat’ to celebrate the end of the year and the end of students time at Central, however it is always sold out, meaning many students don’t get to attend. After receiving feedback from students, we have decided to do a graduate only ball to make sure all our final year students get the chance to celebrate. We also want the ‘vibe’ of this event to be more sophisticated, so students who don’t enjoy a crazy night out can enjoy this. Plus, we thought a change would be good!
When do I need to arrive?
You can arrive from 6:30pm. Last entry will be at 8:30pm, so make sure you arrive before then to guarantee entry. The event will end at 11pm, so its up to you if you want to carry the night on afterwards!
What is the dress code?
The dress code is ‘formal dress’. The theme of the night is ‘A Midsummer’s Night Dream’, so we invite you to dress with this theme in mind if you wish!
Who can come?
The Graduate Ball is open only to 3rd year Undergraduate and final year Postgraduate students. Due to capacity, no guests or lower year students will be allowed to attend.
Will I need to bring ID?
Yes, you’ll need proof of age such as a driving license or passport at the door. We can’t help you if you don’t have your ID on the night.
How do I find the venue?
The Greenwich Yacht Club is a 10 minute walk along the River Thames from North Greenwich station. Its a 20 minute tube journey from Swiss Cottage. The address is:
1 Peartree Way
Eltham
London
SE10 0BW
What can we do afterwards?
Last trains are usually just after midnight, so if you want to go straight home after the Ball, you will be able to.
If you want to carry the night on, the venue is a 10 minute walk from the 02 Centre, or you can make the short journey back into central London via the Jubilee Line.
What if I need help?
We’ll have officers and SU staff available all night. They’re happy to help if anything goes wrong. The bar staff and trained security are all there to make sure you have a good night. In an emergency, dial 999.
Tickets
Do I need a ticket?
Yes, tickets are essential. The venue has a strict capacity for the number of people it can host safely and we can’t break this limit.
Can I get a ticket for my friend?
Nope, this Ball is open only to final year students, meaning we are not allowing plus 1’s.
Are there tickets on the door?
In order for us to make an accurate guest list, tickets need to be bought in advance, and won’t be available on the door.
Can I give my ticket to someone else?
No, you can’t transfer your ticket to someone else. If you don’t want it, you’ll need to contact us at [email protected]
Do you offer refunds?
It’s not usually possible to offer a refund except in extreme circumstances. If you think you could qualify, contact us at [email protected]
